About us and our Pump Clips

We design and print our Pump Clips at our print shop - Hot Metal Press Ltd - in Elsecar near Barnsley, South Yorkshire, and have been doing so since 1991.

We've created hundreds of thousands of pump clips in that time, from the sublime to the ridiculous! and we'll be happy to make sure that your beer stands out from the crowd.

We have three types of pump clip, standard, deluxe and recyclable, all available in a range of sizes and options, and a range of price breaks!

Our most popular option is the standard clip, this is printed in full colour on a matt white polyester and mounted on a 2mm foamex board.

The deluxe clip is printed on a pure white artboard, mounted on to the same 2mm foamex as the standard clip, but has the addition of metallic foil and a gloss or matt laminate.

We also produce a greener option, the fully recycleable clip, printed on a FSC certified card, and mounted onto a 100% recycled greyboard.

You can then choose a standard shape, or have a custom cutter made to your own design!

We also can provide the backclips, these are available to order as an add on, or by themselves, they are white PVC, sized to fit most beer engines and come with a self adhesive pad.

Pump Clip History

Pump clips are badges that are attached to handpumps on beer engines in pubs to show which cask ales are available. In addition to the name of the beer served through the pump, they may give other details such as the brewer's name and alcoholic strength of the beer and serve as advertising.

Pump clips can be made of various materials. Most breweries would use a printed plastic pump clip, for some one-off beers laminated paper can be used. The gaudiness or tastefulness of the decoration depending on how much the brewery wants to market their beers at the point of sale. Novelty pump clips have also been made of wood, slate and compact discs. Some even incorporate electronic flashing lights. Older pump clips were made of enamel.

The term pump clip originates from the clip that attaches it to the pump handle. These consist of a two-piece plastic ring which clamps to the handle with two screws. Plastic and laminated paper pump clips usually have a white plastic clip fixed with a sticky double-sided pad that pushes onto the handle.

These are the prices for our most popular product, the standard range, up to A6 in size, using a standard cutter.

 

So you *could* order, 5 designs, have 11 of each (55 clips) for £25.85, this actually is cheaper than 5 designs, 10 of each (50 clips) which is £30 - more is cheaper!

We can include the backclips, or you can buy just the backclips, for 20p each!

Can be delivered by overnight carriage to any mainland UK address.
